Tuesday, August 8
Woke up at 3:40 am
Left the house at 4:14 am
Left airport around 6:06 am
Arrived in Atlanta about 7:07 am and I saw a HUGE rock when we flew in. Left about 9:15 am for a non-stop flight to Denver. My mom told me to look out the window for some huge red ribbons they have on the ground to show where the time changes and I asked her if she has seen it and she laughed cause she just made it up >>; Yeah I belived her!
Arrived in Denver about 11:45 local time(1:45 in NC)
We rode a shuttle to the E-Z Rent a Car place and got our blue Durango thing and ate at Ruby Tusedays. Thats were my dad and brothers found out that in Colorado there is NO SWEET TEA! DUNDUNDUN!!!!! That was hard on them all week. It was about 77 degrees out side and NO HUMIDITY! Yes!
The airport was a ways from Denver and it was SO FLAT! With the mountains in the distance it looked neat but all the flat land made me...murrr >> It was just to OPEN! But it was pretty neat. The sky is so HUGE out there! I saw hundreds of prarie dogs! They'd pop up then disappear in their holes.
Got into Denver and it wasn't flat anymore since it's right on the foot of the mountains. The mountains her beautiful and getting beautifulier! :D
We went to a train museum and looked around. Then we went to Golden(a town) and watched people tube and swim in the river. I SAW A HUGE SQUIRREL!
We ate ice cream, mint chocolate chips :3, and looked around in Flows General Store. I saw somethings like Painted Ponies but they were wolves, some were very beautiful. I like these hats they had of animals. Fox, black and grizzly bear, raccoon and horse. Sadly there was nothing in the whole store with a cougar ;_; Next we went to an old park and they had this awesome slide down the mountain! It was HUGE and you rode on a sled type thing and sped down the mountain, that was fun.
Wento to the hotel, ate at Arbys then went to sleep before the sun sank. We were so tired.
Wednesday, August 9
We all woke up at 6 am(8am NC) and ate the hotel food, great eggs and the chocolate muffins tasted like bananna XP
Left hotel, wandered around on the roads. I saw some pretty neat views and an old Catholic church. Rode to Estes park and ate pizza and my mom and I wandered over to the Chocolate Factory somehow ;3 I got post cards, one cougar one X3
Finally to my country!! Rocky Mountain National Park! Wonderous contry, on top of the mountain we saw two herds of Elk. As we went down the mountain we saw two more bull elk almost on the road, they were very close. And yeah an army of ground squirrels/chipmunk things.
We arrived in Grand Lake and stayed in a hotel thing up on a hill. Nice view of the lake and mountains from the porch. They had animals on the walls including a cougar pelt...well it was my first sight of one in Colorado, crap. The sunset on the mountain rocked it was so awesome! Flaming red!
Thursday, August 10
I ate a huge cina-bun for breakfast, yummy. We went to the national park again and walked to the Never Summer Ranch sight. More squirrels. We ate lunch at this place in Grand Lake and their hot dogs were real hot dogs(no, not made with real dogs!) They were huge and tasted like real meat! X3 They were great! Then my dad and brothers went on an ATV trip while my mom and I went and rode horses. I got a horse the guide usualy uses so I had to keep her from going out in front all the time. Her name was Disney, I lurved her :3 We saw a moose while we rode, about 10 yards or less across the river. I saw it first and pointed saying "Moose." Then I realised it was a real moose and my mum got a shot or two of it. It was a big ol' bull. When we picked up the boys they said they saw a moose smaller than ours from looking on the camera. We ate dinner and looked around in the shops and I saw a leather hat I wanted but my mom said my dad had a hat just like it and I could have it when I got home. Another beautiful sunset!
(And I just tried my dads hat on a few mins ago and it's ugly and WAY too small, MAN! I could have had that new prettier hat!!! ;-;)
Friday, August 11
Woke up again, ate a apple turnover and went kyacking in Grand Lake. While we paddled through the cannal to go to Shadow Mountain Lake we saw the local mama moose and her twins. Everyone who lives in Grand Lake has seen them and they are the mascot there for now :3 The babies were so cute! We paddled around in Shadow then went back because we got tired. My mum and I looked around in the quilt shop, she said there's one in Pittsboro and I wanna go to that :3 Coming from a lodge my dad went and looked at we saw a badger waddling down the road. He was cute and funny XD We left Grand Lake and ate at some sandwhich restruant called Man Munchies, it's logo had an old white jamakin man poppin out of the sandwhich. Really creepy.
We drove all the way to Steamboat Springs. There was lost of beautiful scenery along the way and a few HUGE ranches. That night we went to the Pro Rodeo they had that weekend. That was fun :D
Saturday, August 12
Left Steamboat after big breakfast and drove toward Aspen, that's a nice place to ust look around(pretty expensive) Aspen trees and very pretty too. We drove through Independence Pass, an old wagon trail over the mountain. There was some pretty narrow spots, there was old wagons and bones at the bottom of the cliff drop offs!(Not really, just another lie my mom told me XD) We ended up in Leadville and saw the finish of the 13 hour bike race they have there. We ate at a neat old bar there. Fri and Sat is Sierloin only nights. It was goooooood -Drools- Mum and dad got alttitude sickness(I guess) and were pretty cruddy all night. My mom needed more socks so we bought some at the Dollar General and just drove around. We all went to bed watching the new Willy Wonka movie. There was no air conditioning so dad opened the door after everyone went to sleep. It was about 30 degrees outside and I was sleeping on the roll-way bed right at the door. I only had 2 sheets, it was 30 degrees, I froze.
Sunday, August 13
I awoke freezing, hotel blankets, phhhttt! Ate a english muffin, drank coffee, orange juice, milk and spiced cider. Yummm. Left Leadville and stoppped at some Dinosaur Resource Center(A museum) after lunch. Pretty dinosaurs :3 I should have bought that dinosaur plushie, darn! We drove some more and went through a MASSIVE vally! It was so large! There was some pretty bright red-orange flowers I later learned were called scarlet paintbrush or indian paintbrush. We kept driving until we got to the train that'll take you up to Pikes Peak(Tourist train peeehhhhhh ><) It was freezing, rainning and I was grumpy. My mom and Adam rode the train up while me Tanner and dad looked around in some shops. I like these patchy pairs of pants, I'm gonna make some! Still no cougar things!!! RAAAAHH!!! Why do the bloody moose and wolves and bear and eagles and even chipmunk squirrels get more attention than the cougars!!!!!!! WHY?! ....ahem......yeah.
Our hotel was like a hotel not attached to all the rooms, they were like little cabbins XD -Sleeps-
Monday, August 14
Left for Denver. We side tracked to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. That was interesting. They even have bulls and horses mentioned :D We drove through the Air Force Academy grounds then we went to the Canyon State Park. I saw some lizards and a chipmunk/squirrel.(You know I still don't know if it was a squirrel or not, maybe Colorado people call chipmunks squirrels? Oo;) The park reminded my dad or Arazonia in some spots it was really rocky.
We got to Denver and threw all our bags in the hotel and went to the stadium and watched baseball! The Colorado Rokies vs. the Arazonia Dimond Backs.I was sitting next to this enthusiastic basball fan who would shout or clap everytime the Rockies did something good. Weirdo(And I'm saying that?) He was wearing that Tag body spray and a lot of it! -Gag cough cough- Well the Rockies won! I'll just say that to spare you less reading(if you are readin this)
Tuesday, August 15
Stayed alseep until I woke up. Went through the morning rutine and let for the Bass Pro Shop. It was pretty impressive if I do say so myself. I'm to lazy to type everything I wrote after this cause I have photos and stuff. Yeah we rode 2 planes back(4 planes in a week!) Delayed in Atlanta cause of an over booked plane and a storm and we arrived in RDU about 12:30. I fell asleep about 2am this morning.
I only spent $2.16 this whole week! Go me!
I thought of another story to write! ...what?! Just cause my imagination won't stop doesn't mean I HAVE to finish the stories I have already started! .......shut up Redd. NIKO HAS A BROTHER! He's an adorible twin, Redd!(Not identical you wolfy butt)
